For a better documentation and control of my observation conditions, I purchased a Lunatico Pocket CW 2 cloud watcher. It provides a couple of sensors and alarms:
- Humidity
- Dew point
- Sky quality
- Clouds
- Temperature
- GPS
- Pressure
- Rain
It can run with a battery and USB and can be connected to a smartphone via WiFi and to a PC via USB. The smartphone apps provide only basic data, which is however sufficient for warnings on the observation conditions.
The PC software provided with the CW2 has many more features and allows display of conditions, including warnings with colors, display of graphs, setting of limits, unsafe conditions, sounds, scripts, parameters and many more.
And finally, APT started implementing a connection to observation conditions hardware (I am using the APT 4.54 beta).
I started maintaining a list of conditions and sensor values for a better understanding of the readings and alarm conditions here.
